Hi there,
I am thinking of sponsoring a horse at the Orinda Horseman's Association where you have access to an incredible amount of trails. It's insanely inexpensive to board your horse there (like $250 for 6 months) because it's a coop which rents EBMUD lands. There are 10 stalls but they are usually reserved for injured horses so the horses are all in one herd in a pasture which rotates. It can be up to a half hour walk to get your horse! They have a pretty nice outdoor arena and a couple of jumps, too.
Anyone else board there? Or have access to Tilden Park trails or the trails around the San Pablo resevoir? I'd like to find someone fun to ride with. I also think there are plenty of horses out there who need sponsors if you are a rider looking for a horse.
Allison

Re: Orinda Horseman's Association
Mon, June 7, 2004 - 1:08 PMHi Allison:
A mom and daughter who just bought one of my horses boards him there, he's a black POA named "spice". Tilden's a great place to trail-ride, a bit intense during the rainy season, though.
Just had knee surgery, so not back in the saddle yet.. :-(
but I'd imagine you can hook up with the other boarders there, they are likely all trail riders, given the location. Also, there's a group called "Tilden Wildcat Horseman's Association" that is fairly active, and I think many of them keep horses at the orinda Horseman's pasture.
ps. didya get your burn tix yet?

Re: Orinda Horseman's Association
Thu, January 27, 2005 - 11:31 AMDo you know if they have pasture space open for other people to lease, or are they just seeking sponsors for existing horses? I'm thinking of relocating to the Bay Area (SF, specifically) and am looking for a nice pasture for my gelding, preferrably within riding distance of trails...this place sounds pretty danged nice.

I've done a web search on them for more info/contact info but didn't have any luck. How can I contact them/where are they located?
Thanks,

Thu, October 5, 2006 - 9:47 AMIf anyone is still looking at this post, contact me for info on how to get in touch with people there or put yourself on the waiting list. It takes a long time...Ive been on it for two years now, and am finally probably getting near the top. I have been riding someone elses horse out there during that time, which has worked out well for me. -

Re: Orinda Horseman's Association
Wed, October 11, 2006 - 1:49 PMHow do you contact someone who needs a sponsor for their horse out there? I've been riding at Miwok in Mill Valley for 10 years but there's been a change of managment that favored the riding school over the private boarders and sponsors so many of of left.
Tell me more about the coop. What's it like? How's the management?

Sat, May 31, 2008 - 4:14 PMI'm looking to sponsor there too. I'm an experienced, fun, conscious, western trail rider.
Let's talk about it.. I know this ad is 4 years old; don't even know if you're still here, interested, etc...
Happy Trails,

Re: Orinda Horseman's Association
Sat, March 14, 2009 - 12:32 PMHi!
I am new to the Bay Area and looking for a horse to keep healthy and in good company. I'm an advanced rider - both English and Western, but mostly English. Bare back too on a chilly day.
I'm looking for someone who perhaps is not able to ride their horse(s) and needs to keep up with exercise - perhaps just a good brush down. Also like a nice barn with warm people and good human-to-human company as well.
Lemme know your thoughts : ) Looking forward to hearing back from anyone out there with ideas and/or sweet locations in and around the Bay Area.
